it is a knock off and will not work with your radio.i bought one it did not work i contacted kenwood and they said if it was a kenwood product it would say kenwood on the juction box and it does not.if you are looking for this cable contact kenwood for a kenwood dealer. This is not a real kenwood KCA-ip300V ipod cable. This is what i did and it works great.
Well worth the price as it also charges your phone so its the same price as a charger anyway. A must have for ipod/iphone owners. Only issue I have is when the phone is connected the head unit also connects the bluetooth wireless headphone connection which needs to be turned off in the settings>bluetooth menu everytime I turn on the car. This works with my iphone 3gs no problem. Works good, video comes through fine. Coonects highspeed to the dnx8120. During video play the video does not automatically show unless you press the "photo" in the top left hand corner once the file is playing. kind of a pain but a small inconvenience.
Also, it is much faster and does not hang like the USB input option on this receiver. Do a search online to learn how to make video playlists. I can now watch music videos, TV shows, movies, etc. Just plug and play. I was using a USB drive to with my receiver, but wanted to play my iTunes videos, so I purchased this and an iPod Nano (4th Gen). I bought this for my Kenwood DNX7120 NAV/Receiver. Works great. in my car with ease.
Receiver says there is no video signal. I have about 80gb of music on my ipod which translates into pages and pages of screens. It works as fast as if navigating the ipod itself.Functionality Cons: Cannot navigate back to artist or album selection from a song playing within a playlist.Video content does not display. The screen just displays "reading." Requires restarting the receiver.
Big disappointment as this is the main reason I upgraded to the latest ipod classic.Navigating pages is a little cumbersome. It is a wonderful way to utilize the ipod, which stays discreetly in the glove box. If I'm trying to get to a song/album that starts with M, for example, it requires a surgeon's precision and some luck to get close to it. For $30 it's a "no-brainer." However, there is room for improvement. Length of use to date is about 6 weeks.Overall I would not be without the cable. I only remove it to synch with itunes. Likely, the improvement needs to come from the receiver's operating software, i.e., it's ability to display and play the content from the ipod is only as good as the software that runs it.Observations:No latency between navigating content and ipod response time. It seems that the cable and the 6th Gen ipods are not compatible.
Ideally, they would add a character list so you could navigate directly to that letter of the alphabet.Occasionally the ipod hangs. Running a DNX8120 Receiver with a 120gb 6th Gen ipod classic. It also works fine with my 3g iphone, subject to the same limitations discussed below. Genius playlist functionality is not supported.
I'm not sure if it's the cable or my ipod but for some reason I cant play any of my videos to my Kenwood sterio system. I have updated everything but still no video so I'm giving this 4 stars, other than that it works pretty good.
